About Wield Tool
Wield Tool is a free collection of 105 online tools for everyday jobs: converting units, working out numbers, editing images, cleaning up text and handling files. Every tool opens instantly, works without an account and does its work inside your own browser.
Our mission
Small tasks should take seconds. Converting centimeters to inches, checking a loan payment, shrinking a photo for an email or merging two PDFs should not mean installing software, creating an account or sending your files to a server you know nothing about. Wield Tool exists to make those tasks quick, private and free for everyone.
What we build
The tools are organised into five collections, so you can find the right one quickly:
- Unit converters for length, weight, temperature, volume, area, speed, pressure, energy, data and more, with dedicated pages for the conversions people look up most, such as cm to inches and kg to lbs.
- Calculators for health, money, home projects, dates and maths, from BMI and mortgage payments to concrete volume and GPA.
- Image tools to resize, compress, crop, convert and create images, QR codes, GIFs and favicons.
- Text tools to count words, find and replace, compare, sort and generate text, and to measure typing and reading speed.
- File tools to convert files, organise PDF pages, remove hidden metadata and fix subtitles.
How the tools work
Wield Tool runs on your device. When you open a tool, your browser downloads a small program and does the calculation or the file processing locally. A photo you compress, a PDF you split or a document you convert is read by your browser and never uploaded to us. That is also why the tools are fast: there is no waiting for an upload or a server queue.
A few advanced tools need a larger engine the first time you use them: audio and video conversion, image-to-text recognition and background removal. Those engines are downloaded once from a public content delivery network and then run on your device like everything else. The currency converter fetches daily exchange rates. Your own files are not part of any of these requests.
Accuracy you can check
A tool is only useful if you can trust the answer. This is how we approach it:
- Exact definitions. Unit converters use the official definitions wherever they exist. An inch is exactly 2.54 centimeters, a pound is exactly 0.45359237 kilograms and a nautical mile is exactly 1,852 meters.
- Visible formulas. Every converter and calculator shows the formula it uses, with a worked example, so you can verify a result by hand.
- Clear assumptions. Where a conversion depends on an assumption, the page says so. Examples are the average length of a month, the speed of sound used for Mach, or treating 1 ppm as 1 mg/L in water.
- Honest limits. Health and finance calculators give estimates for general information. They do not replace advice from a doctor, an accountant or another qualified professional.
If you find a result that looks wrong, please tell us. Corrections are our highest priority.
Our values
- Private by design. Your files and text stay on your device. We do not ask you to sign up and we do not need to know who you are.
- Free and open to everyone. No trial periods, no daily limits and no watermarks on what you create.
- Light and fast. Pages are small, work on phones and older computers, and avoid anything that slows you down.
- Plain language. Each tool explains what it does, how to use it and what the result means, without jargon.
Why the name?
To wield a tool is to handle it with skill and purpose. That is the idea behind the site: simple, well-made tools that you can pick up, use with confidence and put down again.
Contact and feedback
Wield Tool improves through feedback from the people who use it. If a tool is missing, confusing or wrong, or if you have an idea for a new one, visit the contact page. You can also browse the complete list of tools to see everything that is available today.
