Grade Calculator

Enter your scores and their weights to see your current course grade and what you need on the remaining work to hit a target.

How to use the Grade Calculator

  1. Enter the score and weight of each graded item.
  2. Add rows as needed; the weights do not have to total 100% yet.
  3. Enter a target final grade to see the score you need on the remaining work.

Weighted grade formula

Grade = Σ (score × weight) ÷ Σ weight

Homework 92% (weight 20), midterm 84% (weight 30) and project 88% (weight 20) give (92 × 20 + 84 × 30 + 88 × 20) ÷ 70 = 87.4%.

What do I need on the final?

Needed = (target × 100 − Σ (score × weight)) ÷ remaining weight

With the scores above and a final exam worth the remaining 30%, reaching 90% overall needs (90 × 100 − 6,120) ÷ 30 = 96%.

Letter grades

What if my weights do not add up to 100%?

The calculator shows your grade for the work completed so far and treats the missing weight as work still to come.
