Image Cropper

Crop a photo to the part you want with a draggable box, exact pixel values or a fixed aspect ratio.

How to use the Image Cropper

  1. Choose an image.
  2. Pick an aspect ratio or leave it free, then drag the box and its round handle to select the area.
  3. Fine-tune with the pixel boxes if needed and download the cropped image.

Aspect ratios explained

An aspect ratio is the relationship between width and height. Cropping to a fixed ratio makes sure the image fits its destination without being stretched or cut off.

Ratio Typical use
1:1 Profile pictures, Instagram square posts, product thumbnails
4:5 Instagram portrait posts
4:3 Presentations, classic photos
3:2 Standard prints such as 6 × 4 inches
16:9 Video thumbnails, widescreen banners
9:16 Stories, Reels, Shorts and TikTok

Cropping tips

  • Place the subject on one of the imaginary thirds of the frame for a more balanced picture.
  • Leave some space in the direction a person is looking or moving.
  • Cropping removes pixels, so start with the largest version of the image you have.

Private by design

The image is opened and processed by your browser on your own device. It is not uploaded to a server, so the tool also works offline once the page has loaded.

Frequently asked questions

How do I crop an image to a square?

Select the 1:1 ratio, move the box over the area you want and download.

Does cropping reduce image quality?

No. The remaining pixels are unchanged; the image simply has fewer of them.

Can I crop to exact pixel dimensions?

Yes. Type the X, Y, width and height values in the boxes under the image.
