Favicons and Google Search
Google shows a site’s favicon next to its results on mobile. It asks for a square icon that is a multiple of 48 px and reachable by its crawler. The package covers this with the 48 px and larger icons.
Design tips
- Keep it simple: a single letter or symbol reads better at 16 px than a full logo.
- The Apple touch icon should not be transparent, so a white background is added to it automatically unless you choose a color.
- Use strong contrast so the icon is visible on light and dark browser themes.
