The classic meme style
The familiar meme format uses heavy white capital letters with a black outline, placed at the top and bottom of a picture. The outline keeps the text readable on any background, light or dark. This tool uses the Impact typeface when your device has it and a similar heavy font when it does not.
Tips for a good meme
- Keep the text short: the set-up on top, the punchline at the bottom.
- Choose an image with clear space near the top and bottom edges.
- Check the result at phone size, where most memes are seen.
Using images responsibly
Use your own photos or images you have the right to use. Photos of private people should not be shared without their permission, and copyrighted pictures remain the property of their owners even after you add text.
Private by design
The image is opened and processed by your browser on your own device. It is not uploaded to a server, so the tool also works offline once the page has loaded.
