Color Picker from Image

Click anywhere on an image to get the exact color of that pixel in HEX, RGB and HSL, and see the image's main colors.

How to use the Image Color Picker

  1. Choose an image, drag it in or paste a screenshot.
  2. Move the pointer over the image to preview colors and click to copy the HEX code.
  3. Use the palette below the image to copy its dominant colors.

What you can do with it

  • Find the exact brand color in a logo or screenshot.
  • Match text and button colors to a photo.
  • Build a color palette from a picture you like.
  • Check the color values of a design mockup.

How it works

The image is drawn on a canvas in your browser and the tool reads the red, green and blue values of the pixel under your pointer. The dominant colors are found by grouping all pixels of a reduced copy of the image into similar colors and picking the most common, clearly different groups.

Why a color may look slightly different

JPG compression blends neighbouring pixels, so a flat area in a photo can contain several close shades. Zoom in on your original or pick from the middle of an area for the most representative value. Very large images are scaled down for display, which averages neighbouring pixels slightly.

Private by design

The image is opened and processed by your browser on your own device. It is not uploaded to a server, so the tool also works offline once the page has loaded.
